Hello everyone!
A little about me...
My name is Courtney and I am a second year occupational therapy student. I graduated from ECU with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Hispanic Studies in 2006. I have been interested in occupational therapy, specifically pediatric, since high school and was thrilled to be accepted into the MSOT program here at ECU! I am originally from Charlotte, NC and hope to return to Charlotte to work. I am engaged to an amazing guy and am looking forward to getting married in the Spring of 2009! We are both really involved in the ECU Catholic Student Center where I am the music director. I love to sing and I am working on playing the guitar.
I am really excited to be continuing assistive technology classes so that I can help children and their families through the process of choosing appropriate technology that will assist them in performing daily activities! Although I am fairly computer savvy, I have never created a blog before and I am not particularly familiar with blogging. However, I am excited to learn yet another new computer skill through this class! I plan on using my blog to help me expand my knowledge of blogging and to reflect upon articles I have read in Closing the Gap Solutions. I would like to direct the focus of my blog to school-age children and different AT solutions that could help them in the classroom as well as at home. This is the group I am passionate about helping. I hope that my reflections will help me "close the gap" in my mind between occupational therapy and assistive technology and be able to tie the two together as I become a professional occupational therapist.
